Cork is the outer bark of the Cork Oak tree (Quercus suber L). A 60 million year old Mediterranean tree, measuring up to 20 meters high. It can live up to 200 years and depends on the removal of the thick bark every 9 years, if not it will die.

It is Portugal’s national tree and protected by law. Presently, Portugal suppliers more than 50% of the world’s cork and this number continues to grow every year.

 Material and Care
All products made from cork are produced from cork leather to provide the natural beauty of cork allowing for the richness and durability of conventional leather. Cork can be washed in the washing machine up to 30°C or 90°F yet is most effective when washed with soap and a cloth.
